From the perspective of a subcontractor, let me recommend Matt Plaskoff Builders (MPB). We work with many different general contractors. The experience differs.
With MPB the experience is a satisfying one. We know that we are working with professionals throughout the organization. For example, MPB personnel are thoroughly familiar with the products we handle, Heatilator fireplaces; we have confidence, therefore, that they choose the most appropriate models for the design of the house.
We have confidence, also, in the supervision that MPB provides for each of their projects. We are kept abreast of scheduling adjustments, and we can count on proper preparations for our own installations to be done according to codes.
When major financial investments are at stake, it is important that the required paperwork is handled correctly and efficiently. MPB does this. Legal documents (contracts, preliminary notices, vouchers, payments, etc.) all flow as they should.
There are so many ways the actions of a general contractor can affect subcontractors negatively. And when such hassle is so frequent that it becomes standard, then it is more noticeable to discover an exception, a professional organization that does it right.
Matt Plaskoff Builders is one of the outstanding exceptions.
